Baby Rock Apparel

DSC00290I know I’m biased, but I like to think my baby rocks. At Baby Rock Apparel, they know my baby (and yours) not only rock, but they are never to small to be on the cutting edge of fashion.

The funky line of children’s clothes and accessories keeps kids looking as hip as their parents. Their designs are casual, fun and don’t take themselves too seriously. What a welcomed break from all the cuddly bear and puppy dog shirts!

I was so pumped when my “Sorry girls, I only date models” shirt arrived. My son looked adorable in his tee and we had 3 people stop us that day to say how much they liked it. It’s refreshing to have something unexpected in the little guy’s wardrobe.

Aside from the clever saying, the shirt was super soft and washed nicely. Also, I love the fact that it is black! With all the spills and smears a day-in-the-life of a toddler brings, we need any help we can get. Speaking of black…Baby Rock Apparel has something they call “black blank” clothes. Here’s the deal: you can buy all the small fry essentials in basic black. Brilliant! I am always searching for good black basics to mix in the kiddy closet.

So enough of my opinion, check it out for yourself. And don’t forget to enter code: mommyista at check out for a sweet 15% off your order! Happy shopping!

The Need to Read

karenandkids“Where reading essentials and a love for reading meet,” this is the mantra of The Reading Corner. Owner, Karen Green, logged many hours in the classroom before starting her reading school that targets preschool-aged children through 1st graders. Her passion for early literacy led her to pursue a career as a reading coach and most recently open The Reading Corner, which is located in Wesley Chapel.

So if you are hip to the events on this site you will notice that Karen is speaking at Learning Express on September 30, at 7pm. If you are wondering what’s in it for you – well, read on.

Karen has planned the grand slam of talks for all you lucky mamas! She is covering everything from writing to vocabulary to what DVDs are really worth the investment. She has even created a cheat sheet to take notes on as well as an adorable make-and-take activity that you can use for a child who is 2 or 8. Have a kid who is bored with reading? Karen will walk you though ways to boost their curiosity in new books. Need fun games to make reading time more interesting for the little ones and you? She’s got ‘em!

As usual we have some great items to raffle off and Learning Express will be generously offering 15% off your purchase that night! Summer’s Gourmet Cupcakes and Juice Zone will be filling us up with deliciousness to munch on while we listen. We’re telling you…this one’s gonna knock your socks off!

Mommyista Photoshoot with Courtney Vickers

When we decided to update the pictures on our website we knew Courtney Vickers was the woman for the job! Her work is beautiful, creative and consistent…not to mention addicting!

Her calm approach puts you at ease and the results will exceed your expectations. She is able to capture the beauty of your child’s chubby little cheeks while also bringing out the their personality. (All in one photo – go figure!) Being a mother, Courtney knows that kids may not always have the same agenda in mind as us adults. So she allows them to just be who they are and capture the moments that may have otherwise gone unnoticed. As her site says, “real life is beautiful.”

Currently, Courtney has a blog that you definitely want to check out for specials and deals and updates. Aside from being a super-talented photographer, she’s a cool mommyista and overall nice woman. You’ll love working with her – and like we said, her work is addictive. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
